The rape case trial involving former Member of Parliament D.Gantulga has started at Primary Court of Bayanzurkh, Chingeltei and Sukhbaatar District at 10.00 a.m. earlier today (24 August). However, the judges have postponed the trial for a week by request of D.Gantulga’s side. According to one source, lawyer A.Otgonbayar did not show up at court. The trial will now be held on 12 September
Previously, the trial was postponed at the request of the victim Ch.Naranzaya who had ill.
D.Gantulga from the Mongolian People’s Party won his seat in the State Great Khural from the 42nd parliamentary district in June 2016. He has since been accused of raping a 25-year-old Ch.Naranzaya at her home in June, 2017. The victim’s sister first reported the alleged crime to the police. When the case was made public, Gantulga, 31, pleaded not guilty and insisted that they ‘mutually consented’ to have sexual intercourse.
