Three-time world sumo champion
Byamba mock-fights with a child during the children”s day LA Bloom at Little
Tokyo in Los Angeles. Byamba was teaching kids the basic exercises and movements
of sumo and explaining their cultural significance.
Born in Mongolia as Byambajav
Ulambayar, he competed in sports since he was a child.
By age 15, “Byamba” had captured
national junior champion titles in judo, sambo, and Mongolian wrestling. At
that time, he was invited to join a professional sumo team in Japan. At age 21,
Byamba was invited to perform sumo in the film “Ocean”s 13”.
Since then, Byamba has performed in
over 120 TV shows, films, commercials, and live events all over the world.
Some of his significant projects
include being the mascot and face of Subaru Canada for the past three years,
competing on “America”s Got Talent” and performing sumo to packed arenas in
India.
